WEST HOLLYWOOD, Calif. - The MTV Video Music Awards were saluted by the likes of party girl Ke$ha, daring rapper B.o.B, hip-hop cat Deadmau5 and a "Jersey Shore" duo at a series of soirees held along the Sunset Strip on the eve of Sunday's big show downtown at the Nokia Theatre, where Lady Gaga and Eminem are poised to win multiple moonman trophies.
Partygoers kicked off Saturday evening with rounds of pingpong at Spin magazine's pre-VMA party inside the chic Mondrian Hotel. Dan Black, the lanky British musician nominated for two moonman trophies for his video for "Symphonies," served as guest DJ while wayward pingpong balls sporadically tapped across the hotel floor between attendees' legs.
Next door at the House of Blues, Ke$ha started the party with a raucous concert benefiting Lifebeat, the music industry organization promoting HIV and AIDS awareness. She strutted across the stage in glittery hot pants and gold face paint, later donning long fuzzy animal hats with her band and back-up singers for "Your Love is My Drug."
"I'm going to the VMAs for the first ... time!" she said using language that would get her bleeped at the ceremony.
Ke$ha ended her performance with her hit "Tik Tok" as she attempted to smash a pinata while confetti rained down on the crowd. Afterward, as stagehands prepared for a performance from B.o.B., concertgoers watched — and some played — "Dance Central," an upcoming groovy Xbox 360 choreography game that uses a camera to detect players' hip-hop moves.
Farther away at a sleek mansion in the Hollywood Hills overlooking a cloud-covered Los Angeles, hundreds of revelers crowded around Deadmau5 inside the transformed V-Moda Fortress. The showy DJ, who will be performing with the likes of Jason Derulo and Robyn at Sunday's show, only occasionally donned his iconic mouse headgear at the packed party.
Dancers clad in itty-bitty black bikinis swayed their hips atop a nearby pool table while chefs cooked crepes in the kitchen. Paul "DJ Pauly D" Del Vecchio and Vinny Guadagnino from "Jersey Shore" held court outside the party. At one point during the evening, Del Vecchio chatted up DJ Paul Oakenfold, proving anything is possible when the VMAs are in town.

Spencer Pratt Arrested in Costa Rica
Could Spencer Pratt be headed to the slammer?
The former MTV reality star was arrested in Costa Rica Saturday for illegal possession of a firearm on his way back to the U.S., according to TMZ.com. The site reports Pratt, 27, was booked at a local jail and then released.
"Costa Rican jail smells like children's tears. And soup. Delicious soup," Pratt Twittered after news broke Saturday afternoon. "If I knew the gov't was Team Jacob, I would've kept my mouth shut."
The reality star -- who spent time in the Central American country with his ex, Heidi Montag, in 2009 as part of NBC's I'm a Celebrity...Get Me Out of Here -- offered a bizarre statement to TMZ with additional details surrounding his arrest.
"As part of my spiritual cleansing I've spent the last week living alone in the jungle, reflecting on my past transgressions, and working to become a better person. I had to live off the land, and hunt to survive," Pratt is quoted as saying.
"As I departed the country this morning to continue my spiritual journey, I mistakenly brought my hunting weapons to the airport. It was an honest mistake, and they sent me on my way," he adds. "On an unrelated note, I'm not allowed in the country anymore -- but that's because of the chicken incident."
Pratt's arrest comes on the heels of a public apology made to wife Montag, who recently filed for divorce after a year of marriage.
In an email to the Associated Press, Pratt says his behavior in the wake of their alleged breakup -- including his threat to release a sex tape -- was "outrageous and infantile."

Top 5 Crazy Celebrities
We live in a world that’s gone celebrity crazy, haven’t we? It’s a tad depressing that most of us know more about the love lives of Rihanna and George Clooney than we do about the Health Care bill. What draws us towards these famous folks that bleed, sweat, and die like you and me? I’ve got a theory. It’s not too complicated, or convoluted. It simply says this: The more money you have, the crazier you can afford to be. Whether it’s shaving your head, growing a beard or calling out a fellow actor with the crudest of verb-age, the landscape of Hollywood is dotted with personality landmines just waiting to be set off. Here to make you feel all too normal is Josh’s top five crazy celebrities.
5. OzzyOsbourne – You could probably attribute most of Ozzy’s shenanigans to being a rock star, or the number of er… substances that he chose to partake of during the 60s and 70s. No matter the cause, Ozzy has set the standard for insane rock star. He has bitten the head off of a dove and a bat. On top of all of this, Ozzy urinated on the Alamo at nine in the morning wearing a woman’s evening dress. You can’t make that shit up. Favorite Quote: “Dogs smoke in France.”
4. Tom Cruise – I suspect that you were expecting to see Mr. Top Gun himself on this list. If it’s not the scientology that makes you think he’s crazy, then it’s the possessive nature he has towards his wife, Katie Holmes. I can understand being passionate about your chosen faith, but many thought Tom crossed the line when he criticized actress Brooke Shields for seeking medication for her depression. Tom is also notable for his jumping about like a five year old proclaiming his love for Katie Holmes during an Oprah interview. The man was once in the seminary to join the priesthood, and now is a representation of the insanity of Hollywood. God bless you Tom Cruise.
3. Joaquin Phoenix – Joaquin Phoenix is probably best remembered as that dude that played Johnny Cash, the bat swinging brother of Mel Gibson in “Signs” or the incestuous emperor Commodus from “Gladiator.” Phoenix was hit with tragedy early in life when his brother River Phoenix overdosed on an eight ball of cocaine. Phoenix began a career of his own not long after. I respect Phoenix’s work in “Walk the Line,” since it’s kind of like the white guys equivalent of “Ray” – minus the blindness and soul. Phoenix’s real claim to fame came about a year ago when he grew out his beard, and began his career as a rapper. Audiences were shocked when he appeared on the rap scene with his shades, beard and white boy antics.
2. Britney Spears – Britney is like the Hollywood equivalent to Dracula – she just won’t stay dead. She started off as a member of the Mickey Mouse Club after an appearance on the show “Star Search.” Not long after Britney was feigning innocence and signing multi-million dollar record deals. In 2003 Britney attracted attention for French kissing Madonna, and then for exposing her lady parts to a photographer while hanging out with Paris Hilton. Things got even crazier for Britney when she married Kevin Federline and promptly had two children with him.
1. Gary Busey – Busey is crazy enough to get his own category of crazy in my list. It’s like he snorts pixie sticks mingled with cocaine and Ritalin before going to any celebrity event. You never know what he’s going to say or do. For instance, in an interview with the Christian program “Prayer Hour” Busey claims that Bible stands for “Basic Instructions Before Leaving Earth.” Just your average religious adherent? I think not. He discusses in a different interview that before “finding Christ” God gave him the experiences of cocaine and living in the fast lane to learn from.

Lady Gaga Leads VMA Nominees With 13
In LOS ANGELES, Calif. -
Music’s wildest party — on television at least — convenes Sunday night at the MTV Video Music Awards in Los Angeles and the guest list couldn’t be any more outrageous.
There’s Lady Gaga, who will compete for top honors. She’s nominated for 13 moonman trophies, setting a VMA record, and her nominations include two for video of the year — “Telephone,” featuring Beyonce, and “Bad Romance.”
Also on the invite list is Eminem, who is nominated eight times and is also up for video of the year for “Not Afraid.” Then there’s the ever-rowdy “Jersey Shore” gang, the ever-sassy Katy Perry, party girl Ke$ha, the cast of “Jackass” and Kim Kardashian.
And bad-girl comedian Chelsea Handler is the show’s host.
But they might all be upstaged by Kanye West and Taylor Swift.
West is due to perform, but people aren’t as interested in his performance as his potential antics. The rapper-producer has still not recovered from his actions at last year’s VMAs in New York, when he took to the stage as Swift won the award for female video and declared it should have gone to Beyonce.
West endured intense backlash after that, despite an apology, and stepped away from the spotlight. He recounted it all last weekend in a Twitter rant, again apologizing to Swift and detailing the pain he endured.
West also said he has a song for her to sing, but Swift has other ideas: A person close to the singer says Swift will perform her own song about last year’s incident on Sunday night’s show, virtually assuring a continuation of the VMAs’ trademark craziness.
The Five Craziest Things That Could Happen at the 2010 VMAs
Every year, MTV manages to create, or stumble upon, some special moment of insanity at of the VMAs. Britney's flop of a comeback, Lil' Kim's boob meeting Diana Ross, Justin Timberlake dissing The Hills (and encouraging MTV to play more music videos).
TVGuide.com will be on the lookout for this year's crazy, and will live-tweet the night starting with red carpet arrivals at 8/7c with the hash tag #VMAs. Here are five crazy-yet-totally plausible things that could make this year's show:
Taylor Swift serenades Kanye West — with an assist from Cee-Lo. West just apologized to the 20-year-old country-pop superstar, but it might be too little too late. Swift was spotted singing a song she wrote about last year's VMA fiasco during Saturday's rehearsals, according to the Associated Press. Assuming she wrote a kiss-off, it only makes sense to have Cee-Lo guest star. Can't you see it: He busts in just when Swift's warbling begins to hurt, and delivers to West a verse or two from "F--- You," the kiss-off to end all kiss-offs. We can only hope someone at MTV was smart enough to think of it — and that Swift hasn't planned a ballad of forgiveness.
Justin Bieber debuts a new 'do. We already know he's planning an "epic" rendition of his hit "Baby." (It probably won't be nearly as awesome as the slow-mo version.) What would really be something is if he changed up his signature floppy mop, already copped by many a lesbian. It could happen: He's already branching out into acting, and he'd be way more versatile without the distraction of the silky smooth bangs. Plus, he's gone hairless before. More likely? A live collaboration with his new love, which wouldn't be a bad alternative by any means.
Three words: "Oh Sookie" Live. Rapper and VMA nominee Snoop Dog is a professed fan of True Blood — his music video ode to Sookie proves it." It's only fair that MTV makes up for airing the VMAs opposite the season finale — Snoop's going to have to Tivo — by giving us one fangtastic number. It would be the greatest promotion ever for Anna Paquin, whose True Blood co-star Joe Manganiello is also presenting, to take the stage in a Snoop-Sookie duet. MTV's awards shows are good for nothing if not celebrity hawking. This is one sales job we'd all love.
Lady Gaga tops... herself. At January's Grammys, she played dueling pianos with Elton John, both of them dressed up as blown-up fame monsters, scattered, outstretched limbs dividing them. What could be more over-the-top? Glee, of course! True, the Emmys just made good use of the singing, dancing choir kids. But Gaga and Glee is a proven pairing. The show has already paid tribute to her songs (they sing a third in the upcoming second season premiere), and Chris Colfer has conquered her impossible shoes. We trust Gaga will surprise and amaze us once more by seting them on fire mid-number... or something.
Dance, Jersey Shore, dance! Every nightclub in South Beach has welcomed the moves (and brawls and messy makeouts) of the Jersey Shore crew. And everyone knows they can fist-pump. MTV would be wise to make them the evening's (likely debauched) drill team for an extra-poufy, extra-juicy half-time show led by Snooki and featuring J-WOWW's famous chest squeezes, MVP's grenade-free grinding and Ronnie and Sammi's on-again, off-again two-step. Wait, we don't want to see those two do anything except break-up for good.

PIC: Is Miley Cyrus & Liam Hemsworth Back On?
Mere weeks after announcing their split, could Miley Cyrus and Liam Hemsworth an item once more?
Spotted grabbing Starbucks together Saturday in Los Angeles.
Cyrus and Hemsworth, 20, met in 2009 on the set of The Last Song, based on the Nicholas Sparks novel.
At the L.A. premiere of Last Song in March, the Aussie actor said they had "a lot of fun" filming the romantic drama.
"It was pretty much jokes every day," he said. "Jokes and shooting on the beach -- there wasn't much to complain about!"
The same month, Cyrus gushed to Parade: "[Liam has] become my best friend in the whole wide world. I love him. He really respects me for who I am because coming from Australia, he really didn't know me as the celebrity I am here. I got to tell him about myself on my own terms and my own way. He had no preconceived notion of who I was supposed to be."

Chelsea Handler: I'll Be Ready If Kanye West Storms VMA Stage
Should Kanye West reenact his 2009 stage storming stunt at Sunday's MTV Video Music Awards, host Chelsea Handler says she'll be ready.
"I have a BB gun and a water gun in case things get hectic," the comic, 35, jokes to Extra. "I wouldn't put it past Kanye to run up on stage and interrupt me, but good luck with that."
West caused a stir at last year's event when he rushed the stage to tell the audience that Beyonce deserved to win the Best Female Video award instead of Taylor Swift.
"I wrote a song for Taylor Swift that's so beautiful and I want her to have it. If she won't take it then I'll perform it for her. She had nothing to do with my issues with award shows. She had no idea what hit her," the rapper Tweeted.
West, who is set to release his fifth studio album this fall, will join other VMA performers including Justin Bieber and Eminem, for the annual awards show airing Sunday at 9 p.m./ET on MTV.

Bieber rocks downtown L.A. as he preps for VMAs
LOS ANGELES - Visitors to Staples Center and the adjacent L.A. Live plaza were treated to an unannounced free concert Friday when Justin Bieber took to an outdoor stage to rehearse his performance for Sunday's MTV Video Music Awards.
A crowd slowly gathered as the teen sensation and his team of dancers and musicians rehearsed for about two hours Friday afternoon. MTV representatives said they hadn't announced Bieber's outdoor rehearsal to avoid drawing the swarms of fans who have crowded the 16-year-old pop star's public appearances around the world.
Wearing a red varsity jacket with a sparkly "B" on the front, Bieber practiced his arrival to the outdoor stage in a cherry red 1957 Chevy Bel Air, chased by a pack of (precast) girls. Then, backed by a team of dancers and musicians, Bieber moonwalked and made a heart shape with his hands as he belted out his hit "Baby."
Passers-by wielded camera phones from behind barricades, and teenage admirers erupted in shrill screams anytime Bieber was within earshot. He smiled at them and flashed a peace sign with his fingers.
Though barely bigger than the troupe of pint-sized hip-hop dancers (age 9 through 13) who joined him on stage, Bieber acted like a seasoned pro.
"What's wrong with my drums? Like, I don't hear anything and it should be loud," he said after practicing a drum solo. "This has to be, like, an epic moment. It's ending the song."
Later, he complained that "the vocals are too loud in my ear and I can't hear the groove."
And when his wireless microphone pack fell to the floor, he casually gathered up the batteries and put the pack back in his pocket without missing a single lyric.
Bieber is set to perform on the same stage Sunday just outside the Nokia Theatre, where the Video Music Awards will be presented. Other performers include Drake, Kanye West and Eminem.

Beauty Christina Aguilera's "Unforgettable" Entourage Cameo
This season of Entourage wraps up with a bang -- and Christina Aguilera!
Playing herself on this Sunday's season finale of the HBO hit, Aguilera gives a private show for foul-mouthed agent Ari Gold (Jeremy Piven).
"I am a fan of the show, so when I was asked to appear on the finale I was so excited," the singer, 29, says. "I loved working with Jeremy. He is hysterical. Who doesn't love Ari Gold?"
Adds show creator Doug Ellin: "I thought she was the perfect star to deliver a private performance for Ari Gold. The song and her persona made for an unforgettable moment."

50 Cent - Anti-gay Tweets
LOS ANGELES, Calif. -- Following a Twitter war of words with blogger Perez Hilton, the Gay and Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation (GLAAD) is blasting rapper 50 Cent over a series of anti-gay Tweets.
"Perez hilton calld me d*****bag so I had my homie shoot up a gay wedding. wasnt his but still made me feel better," the rapper Tweeted this week. His Tweet also included a photo of two men running from a mob of angry people.
GLAAD released a statement saying, "Instead of keeping his dispute with Perez Hilton 'mano a mano,' rapper 50 Cent decided to take his frustration with the blogger out on all gay people. GLAAD calls on 50 Cent to let his fans know that anti-gay violence isn't something to joke about."
The LGBT advocacy group also instructed others to Tweet the rapper, writing, "On Twitter? Please post this tweet to your twitter page to let 50 Cent know your thoughts: RT @glaad: Tell @50cent to let his fans know that anti-gay violence isn't something to joke about. http://bit.ly/ab6rXV #LGBT #gay Pls RT!"
The rapper, whose real name is Curtis Jackson, responded on Twitter, writing, "Now the Pink suit mafia is making threats! F*** dat I ain't never scared," followed by another anti-gay photo.
When contacted by Access Hollywood, a rep for the rapper was not available for comment on the matter.
This week's incident isn't the first time that 50 has expressed homophobic remarks.
In a 2004 interview with Playboy magazine, he said, "I don't like gay people around me, because I'm not comfortable with what their thoughts are. I'm not prejudiced. I just don't go with gay people and kick it--we don't have that much in common. I'd rather hang out with a straight dude. But women who like women, that's cool."

It's War! Kim Kardashian vs Scott Disick
LOS ANGELES, Calif. - Tensions between Kim Kardashian and Scott Disick erupted into a Twitter war on Friday, with the two parties slinging allegations at each other - including bizarre rumors about someone's alleged sexual relations with a "pool boy."
Kim threw the first Twitter punch, lashing out at Scott, her sister Kourtney's baby daddy, and linking to a photo of In Touch magazine's latest cover story, bearing the headlines "Scott's Tell-All Book," and "Family Secrets."
"How dare u," Kim Tweeted. "They are family secrets for a reason."
Scott quickly replied, hitting back hard at the brunette beauty.
"I'm so sick of keeping my mouth shot," he wrote, clearly meaning to type "shut." "enough is enough, people need to know who you people really are!"
A source told In Touch that Scott was milling the idea of writing a critical book about the family, though the source noted he planned to leave out details about Kourtney.
Scott's Tweet seemed to confirm the source's claim, and Kim chimed in and suggested that the often striped-shirt wearing reality star could have come to her for money instead of lining up a book deal.
"But I would have paid u off! How much was your book deal for?" she wrote.
"I don't want your kind of money," he Tweeted back.
The Twitter war then took an odd turn, tackling bizarre allegations in the In Touch story that one Kardashian clan member had relations with a pool boy, and another -- Kim -- was wild in her youth and "homeless" for a short time after being kicked out by her parents.
"OMG I was the homeless one??? hahahah!!!!!!!! Why do I not remember that? So odd! How did I block that out?" Kim wrote, bashing the rumors.
"If that never happened then are u making this stuff up @ScottDisick Or were u homeless, adopted & slept w ur pool boy & u are mixing it up?" Kim continued.
Scott, who is known for his outbursts on "Khloe and Kourtney Take Miami," and "Keeping Up with the Kardashians," then attempted to be sarcastic and take credit for the "pool boy" rumors.
"I f****d the pool boy while I was homeless after my adopted parents threw me out My mistake kim," he wrote.

Miley's New Pinky Tattoo
Is Miley Cyrus in love again? The singer was spotted at LAX airport Wednesday returning from Paris, where she was shooting her new film, "LOL: Laughing Out Loud" with Demi Moore and Ashley Greene, sporting some brand new body art - a tiny tattoo in the shape of a heart on her right pinky finger.
The 17-year-old former Disney starlet is no stranger to body art - she has the phrase, "Just Breathe" inked on her rib cage, and last June, she was spotted with the word "Love" stenciled onto the anti-helix of her right ear.
Miley was in the throes of "first love" with Liam Hemsworth, her "The Last Song" leading man, when her ear art was first spotted. However, the two broke up just last month after dating for over a year.
So, is Miley's new heart a constant reminder that love is all around? Or has she already found a new man? The pop star was spotted getting flirty with her "LOL" co-star Douglas Booth on the Pont des Arts bridge in Paris as they waited for a shot to be set up.
Now that "LOL" has finished filming, multi-tasking Miley is due to tour Europe next month to promote her new single, which is fittingly titled ... "Who Owns My Heart."

Michael Douglas: Cancer Battle - ‘I’m Doing Fine’
In LOS ANGELES, Calif. -
Michael Douglas is battling against Stage 4 cancer after doctors found a tumor in his throat, but the actor is keeping his spirits high.“I’m doing fine,” Michael told reporters “Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps” on Thursday. “My doctors are optimistic and I’m optimistic.”
The actor explained that he is not able to keep up with his usual routine, “obviously, a combination of radiation every day and chemo limits a full day.”
The “Wall Street” star explained his new movie would close out a rough period for him.
“Life goes on, this is just another chapter, I’ve had a, you know, pretty good run of it and this was a pretty bad year,” he continued, seemingly referencing his son, Cameron Douglas’ incarceration, earlier in 2010. “So, it’s gonna top off with a really good movie.”
Michael said watching numerous sporting events has helped to keep his spirits up.
“I’m just taking it a day at a time,” he told reporters. “You couldn’t pick a better time, you know, tennis has never been better, college football just started. I’ve got a Monday night game coming up with the Jets, so sports looks really good and to top it off we have a picture that’s rocking — what’s not to like?”
The actor also recently spoke to Parade Magazine about his cancer battle.
“Life is not all ha-ha-ha. But I’m in good spirits. I’m an optimistic guy. Nothing has deterred me from my belief that I am going to beat this,” he told September issue of the magazine. “My doctors’ prognosis is for a full recovery. I have no reason to doubt them.”
Security Guard Sues Britney Spears For Sexual Harassment; Spears Camp, K-Fed Hit Back
LOS ANGELES, Calif. -- Britney Spears is being sued by a man who she sexually harassed when he served as a security guard for the pop star earlier this year.
In the lawsuit, filed on Wednesday in Los Angeles Superior Court, Fernando Flores, claims he was hired in February 2010, and the alleged sexual harassment on the part of the singer started almost immediately.
However on Thursday morning, a statement on behalf of Spears was posted on her website, calling the lawsuit an "unfortunate situation" and suggested Flores was trying to "make a name for himself."
"This lawsuit is another unfortunate situation where someone is trying to take advantage of the Spears family and make a name for himself," the statement read. "The Department of Children and Family Services conducted a proper investigation surrounding Mr. Flores' accusations and have closed the case without any further action. Ms. Spears and her attorneys have every expectation that this matter will be dismissed by the courts."
As for the suit, Flores claimed in his graphic court filing that he found Spears unclothed on multiple occasions.
In one instance, Flores claimed that during a Saturday day shift, Spears ordered him to "knock on her bedroom door in 15 minutes and to not be late."
Flores claims that when he went to the door, he "found... Spears standing in her bedroom completely nude." Flores went on to claim that "after an awkward silence, during which [Spears] just stood naked" before him, he asked "if she needed anything." "After some hesitation... Spears asked [him] to get her two bottles of 7 Up."
On another alleged occasion, Flores claimed Spears was sporting a "see-through white lace dress and nothing else" and while bending down to pick up her lighter, she exposed "her bare genitals" within his "view."
He also claimed Spears "engaged in numerous sex acts in front of" him.
Flores said he reported the incidents to his management, "but his complaints were ignored or mocked, and no action was taken to rectify the situation."
In July, Flores filed a complaint with the California Department of Fair Employment and Housing.
A message left for Sam Ingham, the court-appointed attorney representing Spears in her conservatorship on Wednesday evening by Access Hollywood, was not immediately returned.
On Thursday, Spears' ex-husband, Kevin Federline came to the pop star's defense, and suggested that Flores' suit was based on financial reasons.
"He is satisfied that the allegations are a product of economic motives," Mark Vincent Kaplan, K-Fed's lawyer told the AP. "They are as baseless as they seem."

Spears' ex disputes abuse claims
LOS ANGELES – An attorney for Britney Spears' ex-husband called child abuse claims leveled at the singer by a former bodyguard baseless and motivated by money.
Fernando Flores, who worked on the singer's security detail, sued Spears on Wednesday claiming sexual harassment and intentional infliction of emotional distress. His lawsuit claims Spears repeatedly exposed herself to him and that he witnessed her punish her young sons with his belt and act inappropriately in front of them.
Kevin Federline's attorney Mark Vincent Kaplan told The Associated Press that Flores' accusations had been looked into before the suit was filed and warranted no action. He said Federline takes any allegations of abuse or wrongdoing regarding the former couple's children seriously.
"He is satisfied that the allegations are a product of economic motives," Kaplan said. "They are as baseless as they seem."
Federline has custody of the former couple's sons, Sean Preston and Jayden James, but Spears has substantial visitation with the boys.
Kaplan said if Federline believed the children were in danger, he would have stepped in already.
He noted that Flores' lawsuit was leaked to online news outlets before the suit was filed. "I think that the timing of this and the nature of the allegations speak for themselves."
The lawsuit, which seeks unspecified damages and includes several lurid allegations of Spears allegedly exposing herself to Flores.
Spears' publicist Holly Shakoor did not return e-mail messages seeking comment on the case.
The lawsuit claims that Spears, among other things, exposed herself to Flores and summoned him to her bedroom while she was naked.
The bodyguard's employment with Spears appeared to be brief — his court filings state he started working for her in February and had "exhausted his administrative remedies" with a state agency by July.
Flores also sued his former employer, Advanced Security Concepts Corp. A woman who answered the company's phone Wednesday declined to comment and refused to be identified.
Spears remains under a court-ordered conservatorship in which her personal and financial affairs are controlled by her father and an attorney, and monitored by a judge. The conservatorship has prevented Spears from being deposed or testifying during previous cases in which she was sued.
Despite a high-profile custody battle, Spears and Federline reached an agreement in 2008 and neither side has sought changes to the custody arrangement in nearly a year, court records show.

LFO's Rich Cronin Dies at 35
LOS ANGELES (Reuters) - Rich Cronin, former lead singer of the boy band LFO and the writer of its 1999 hit "Summer Girls," died on Wednesday after a battle with leukemia, celebrity news site TMZ reported. He was 35.
The news was also reported via Twitter by Lance Bass, a former member of 'N Sync, who described Cronin as "an amazing guy." It was not clear where Cronin died.
The Boston native co-founded LFO - short for "Lyte Funky Ones" - in 1995 with Brad Fischetti and Brian Gillis (who was later replaced by Devin Lima). They signed a deal with Lou Pearlman, the now-imprisoned pop impresario behind 'N Sync and the Backstreet Boys.
But Cronin sought to differentiate his band from other male vocal groups, which relied on outside songwriters and producers to deliver soulful pop hits. LFO introduced hip-hop and rock into the equation, and hit No. 3 on Billboard's Hot 100 singles chart with the inescapable summer anthem "Summer Girls."
The follow-up, "Girl on TV," reached No. 10, but subsequent singles failed to crack the top 40. The band broke up in 2003.
Cronin was diagnosed with cancer in 2005, and set up a foundation to raise money for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.

Playboy Model Threatens to Sue Spencer Pratt Over Sex Tape
Another day, another Speidi sex tape scandal.
Playboy model Karissa Shannon is "supposing" threatening to sue Spencer Pratt, who is allegedly in possession of a sex tape featuring Shannon and her boyfriend, Sam Jones.
Shannon's laywer Hayes F. Michel fired off a letter to the Hills villain Thursday, requesting that he return the footage that "was taken from her possession" and "contains private materials," TMZ reports.
"It had been reported in the press that you were attempting to publish, distribute, sell, license or otherwise exploit filmed footage of Ms. Shannon. According to press reports, you are no longer threatening to do that. This decision is wise," Michel wrote. "Were you to follow through with your initial threat, Ms. Shannon would file a lawsuit to enjoin the sale and/or distribution and seek monetary damages from you."
Michel requests that Pratt, 26, contact him immediately to make arrangements to return all copies of the tapes. Additionally, Pratt is being asked to provide written acknowledgment that he will no longer attempt to "publish, distribute, sell, license or otherwise exploit the footage." Finally, Michel is asking for a list of people and/or companies who have seen or received the tapes.
Last week, a source confirmed that the sex tapes starring Shannon and Pratt's ex Heidi Montag do exist, though they may be kept under wraps... for now.

Kellan Lutz Is "So Disgusted" by Puppy-Hurling Teen
Twilight star Kellan Lutz is fuming after viewing footage of a teenage girl who abused six puppies by hurling them into a river in Bosnia.
"What is going on with the search for the girl throwing the puppies into the river?" Lutz, 25, tweeted Sunday. "I've never been so disgusted before. That video is so incredibly disturbing and plain out wrong."
The 43-second video -- which first appeared on YouTube before later being removed -- shows a giggling teenage girl (clad in a red hooded sweatshirt) pulling six small puppies out of a white bucket and throwing them into the raging waters.
Police in the the central Bosnian town of Bugojno told London's Telegraph they had identified the underage girl Friday, though they have yet to release her name; the girl's parents will soon be questioned.
"Heard Michael Bay put up a bounty for her or info leading to her arrest. Thank you for that, and everyone who is not standing for this," Lutz continued. "That cruelty and any cruelty to animals helpless or not is unacceptable. I can't get the crying puppies out of my head."
TheEclipse actor -- who appeared in a PETA campaign with his dog Kola earlier this year -- says he's grateful the teen will be held accountable for her actions. If convicted, she may be required to pay a $6,400 fine as a result of a new Bosnian animal cruelty law.
"I'm so grateful that she has been found and even more grateful for the new law!" he tweeted. "Thank you all for taking a stand and using your voices against such actions as this. You all are my heroes!"

Ashton Kutcher Slams Tabloid Over Alleged Cheating Story; Claims 'Defamation Of Character'
LOS ANGELES, Calif. -- Ashton Kutcher has taken aim at a tabloid after it published a cover story claiming he cheated on his wife, Demi Moore.
On Wednesday, the actor hit his Twitter account to lash out at Star magazine, which claimed in its latest issue that the celebrity couple's marriage "is in danger of falling apart" because the mag claimed the actor was allegedly "caught cheating with a sexy, young, 20-something."
"I think Star magazine calling me a "cheater" qualifies as defamation of character. I hope my lawyer agrees," Ashton Tweeted on Wednesday.
"STAR magazine - you don't get to stand behind 'freedom of the press' when you are writing fiction," he added.
Ashton's wife, Demi, backed him up, reTweeting her husband and adding her two cents.
"No question!," she wrote in response to his defamation of character Tweet.
Demi also called his "writing fiction" Tweet, an "Excellent point my love!"
Star noted that Ashton's rep denied the story in their online version of the article.
Access Hollywood reached out to Star magazine on Wednesday for comment, but did not receive a reply by press time.

Catherine Zeta-Jones furious Douglas' cancer went undetected
LOS ANGELES (Reuters) - Actress Catherine Zeta-Jones admits having a hard time watching husband Michael Douglas battle throat cancer and has told People magazine she is furious with doctors for not detecting his disease sooner.
Douglas, the Oscar winner of "Wall Street" and a veteran of Hollywood movies and television, told the celebrity magazine that he spent months seeking attention for persistent throat and ear pain only to be told nothing was wrong until August.
The son of actor Kirk Douglas announced on August 16 that doctors had found a tumor in his throat and that he would undergo radiation and chemotherapy, which he has now started.
"It makes me furious they didn't detect it earlier," Zeta-Jones told People. "He sought every option and nothing was found."
The actress, herself an Oscar winner for "Chicago," has been married to Douglas for 10 years and the couple have two children together, Dylan, 10, and Carys, 7.
Douglas, 65, is now undergoing radiation and chemotherapy five days-a-week every three weeks to rid himself of a walnut-sized tumor at the base of his tongue.
Zeta-Jones said she can't stand the thought of watching her husband undergoing chemotherapy and radiation and loosing his strength as he battles the disease.
"I know maybe I should be stronger, but emotionally I just don't want to see that," she said, later adding, "the hardest part is seeing his fatigue, because Michael is never tired."
Douglas made his first post-announcement TV appearance on Tuesday on "The Late Show with David Letterman," and told the talk show audience that although his cancer was late "stage four," doctors say he has an 80 percent chance of recovery.
He told People magazine that he was optimistic about his odds. "I'm treating this as a curable disease," he said. "It's a fight. I'll beat this."
But he admitted that he was uncertain about the future, and noted that "you just never think it's going to be you."
Still, after months of feeling the pain creep up on him, of having a dry throat and hoarse voice, the news of his cancer came as little surprise to both Hollywood stars.
"It wasn't a huge shock. I knew something was up. He knew something was up," said Zeta-Jones.
And while she is furious about the lack of an early diagnosis, Douglas seems more understanding. "Without having to blame anybody ... these things sometimes just don't show up," he said.
